If you’re Googling “Sweet 16 photographer cost” at midnight while your daughter shows you Pinterest boards of dream dresses, you’re not alone. Photography is usually the second or third biggest line item after the venue and the dress — and the pricing can feel all over the place.
After 15 years photographing celebrations across South Florida, here’s an honest breakdown of what Sweet 16 and quinceañera photography actually costs in the West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Miami markets — and what you should be getting for each price point.
The Short Answer
In South Florida in 2026, expect to pay roughly:
- $250–$400 for a pre-session (portrait session with the dress, before the party)
- $600–$900 for event-day photography (3–5 hours)
- $1,000–$1,500 for full coverage with video included
Below $250 you’re likely getting a hobbyist or someone building their portfolio. Above $1,500 you’re usually paying for a multi-photographer team or a well-known studio brand — which can be worth it, but isn’t necessary for every celebration.
What Drives the Price
There are really only four things that move the number:
Hours of coverage. A 1-hour pre-session costs less than a 5-hour full-day shoot. Simple math, but it matters because some photographers quote a low starting price for minimal coverage, then charge hourly overage fees that add up fast.
Number of edited photos. There’s a big difference between “you get all 500 raw files” and “you get 80 hand-edited images in high resolution.” Editing is where the craft lives — color correction, light balancing, skin retouching, and that polished look that separates professional photos from iPhone snapshots.
Delivery speed. The industry standard is 2–4 weeks. Some photographers charge a rush fee for faster delivery. At The Love Pics, the full gallery arrives in under 24 hours — no rush fee, that’s just how I work.
Video. Adding a highlight video (typically 2–3 minutes, edited to music) usually adds $300–$500 to the total. Having one photographer handle both photo and video keeps the cost lower than hiring two separate vendors.

Questions to Ask Before You Pay a Deposit
No matter which photographer you’re considering, ask these before signing:
- How many edited photos are included — and what does “edited” mean to you?
- When will I receive the gallery?
- Are images high-resolution, without watermarks?
- What happens if the event runs longer than the booked hours?
- Is travel to my venue included?
- Do you have experience with quinceañeras or Sweet 16s specifically?
A photographer who answers all of these clearly and without hedging is someone who’s done this enough times to know exactly what you’re going to need.
