Family Photos at Phil Foster Park

Family photos at Phil Foster Park put your family on a small, calm beach on the Intracoastal in Riviera Beach, with clear water and the Blue Heron bridge behind you. I’m Felipe from The Love Pics. A family session is $295 for 45 minutes with up to 25 edited photos; most families book the $425 session with 60 minutes and 35 photos. Your preview gallery arrives in under 24 hours.

Phil Foster is a Palm Beach County park of about 18 acres at 900 E. Blue Heron Boulevard. The beach is open sunrise to sunset. See all my family photography sessions.

Why families like this beach

There is no surf here. The guarded swimming area is on the Intracoastal, so small kids can walk in the water without waves knocking them over, and parents relax. That shows in the photos.

The park is known for its snorkel trail, built from limestone boulders and reef modules across two acres in 6 to 10 feet of water. If your kids are snorkelers, bring the masks: a few photos of them coming out of the water are the ones you will frame.

Arrive early: the park fills up

Phil Foster has 206 regular parking spaces, and when the park reaches capacity the county closes access temporarily; cars are not allowed to wait in line at the entrance. On weekends that can happen by mid-morning.

For photos I recommend a weekday, either early morning or the last hour before sunset. On a weekend, sunrise is the safe choice. I send you a pin and the exact meeting point the day before.

Park rules and the county photo permit

Alcohol is prohibited throughout the park and balloons are prohibited too. The playground is closed until further notice while the county builds new facilities, so plan for the beach as the kids’ entertainment.

Phil Foster is a county park, and Palm Beach County requires a permit for professional photo sessions in its parks; family portraits are on its list.

  • Daily permit: valid for one session of up to three hours at one park.
  • Processing: the county asks you to allow five business days from the day the application is submitted.
  • Applications go by email to parksphoto@pbc.gov or in person to the county parks office at John Prince Park, 2700 6th Avenue South, Lake Worth.

Questions people ask before booking

Yes, when a professional photographer runs the session. Phil Foster belongs to Palm Beach County, which requires a photography permit for professional sessions in its parks and asks for five business days to process it. The fee is set by the county; check its parks page for the current amount.

A weekday at sunrise or in the last hour before sunset. The beach is open sunrise to sunset, and the park closes its entrance when it reaches capacity, which happens on busy weekend mornings. Early is always safer here.

The swimming area is guarded and sits on the Intracoastal, so there are no ocean waves. Swimming is limited to the designated area. For photos we stay at the water’s edge, and an ADA beach mat helps strollers and grandparents reach the sand.

Yes, and I encourage it if your kids love the water. Masks, fins and wet hair make honest, happy photos. We take the dry family portraits first and finish with the water, so nobody is cold while posing.

The Family Session is $295 for 45 minutes with up to 25 edited photos. The Extended Family Session is $425 for 60 minutes and 35 photos, and it is the one most families choose. Groups of more than 6 people add $45 per extra person.
