A Ring on the Boardwalk and Champagne on the Sand: Katherine in Boynton Beach

A trail through the sea grapes, a ring on the boardwalk, family close by and champagne where the sand meets the water.

On a Sunday evening in late September I met Katherine and her fiancé at 6 PM on the ocean side of Boynton Beach, with two hours to work in the last light of the day. She wore a white halter dress with her hair up. He came in a cream linen suit. The plan was simple: the trail first, then the boardwalk, then the sand.

The ring on the boardwalk

We started on a sandy trail lined with a wooden fence and old sea grape trees, walking slowly toward the beach. On the boardwalk that leads to the water, she sat on the railing and he slipped the ring on her finger. You can see it in her face. She did not stop smiling for the rest of the evening.

Then family and friends joined them on the boardwalk. She held her hand out to show the ring and everybody talked at once. Those are the frames I like most on a day like this. Nobody posing, just people who love each other.

Champagne, then the waves

Down on the beach the jacket came off. They sat on the sand facing the ocean with a bottle of champagne between them. He poured her a glass while she laughed at something he had just said. Then they walked into the water — his pants rolled up, her dress in the foam — while the sky turned pink behind them.

We closed with Katherine and a friend in a yellow top taking a selfie by the water. I took one of them too.

15 seconds of the evening

If you are planning your own engagement photos, on the beach or somewhere that means something to the two of you, how I work and what is included is all on my engagement photo session page.

Katherine, congratulations to you both. It was a joy to be there.
